How Can We Utilize Bamboo Canes To Enhance Our Homes?

by Jill on May 30, 2009

At the present time we are surrounded by so many different types of décor to supply our homes with. We have such a varied and broad spectrum to make our choices from. In contemporary homes you will in all probability find that one or two abstract paintings don the walls here and there, but as a rule there could be the odd big reprinted photograph of a building like The Eiffel Tower, Picadilly Circus, The Statue of Liberty or even The New York Skyline to include a touch of realistic art!

Yet, we do use more than solely pictures to personalise and give our homes a warm feel to them. After all, we do need to be able to unwind, listen to cd’s, look at TV, and by and large chill out after a day at work.

Often the recent trends may lean towards unfussiness, so in this scenario you may simply require a couple of bits and pieces in the room to attain this. I, then again, am continually experimenting with things. So I freely confess that my rooms are chaotic!

People ordinarily, spend hours drifting round the stores trying to make up their minds precisely what to choose for their own room. It is not always easy and repeatedly people find it testing to achieve an agreement and compromise.

Candles are a fashionable option with so many varieties currently, which of an evening, lead to an intimate ambiance. One thing is evident though, these additional knick-knacks frequently do not come inexpensively and so many are mass created, taking away any individuality.

And this in mind I got around to thinking what could you arrange, for example, in a corner to create an impact, but in spite of that not take over the room. Why not?, I came up with cane!

Thus, if you go to any respectable garden centre, hardware or DIY store, you ought to be able to obtain a quantity of bamboo canes. Now, I had in mind the full length ones plus in addition, not inevitably the typical thin ones that you grow your runner beans on. Really what you could do with is some of the thicker kind. In essence, roughly speaking an inch to one and a quarter inches thick.

On average, if you intend them for a corner, buy ten. The other factor is you can besides get them in colours at the moment. For this project I suggest that a soft green would be perfect. As soon as you get these, you will need some covered florist’s wire to fasten them all together, about halfway down, ensuring that the canes at the foot half are part twisted so that they splay out. Once you feel that these are balanced then go around the band two or three times to secure this, with some strong string.

The next stage is to attach some tall simulated flowers along with a large head to them and push them down through the string. Big red poppies or else sunflowers would be splendid for this. Additional to this you in reality require a few long ferns, or else stems, with green foliage on. At this point, to add more strength to your binding, you could arrange a band of approximately eight inches of green plastic mesh all round, crossing it at the face like an x, and secure it in the centre. Alternatively, you can do something comparable with a piece of chiffon, or a fine long scarf.

Another option would be to hang pine cones or string balls from it. Now in addition, you can buy twigs and flowers which are beaded. Obviously you can adapt this to your individual requirements plus preferences!
